Balsavaias attended Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 2015 where she received a diploma in 2019. She then joined the University of Georgia where Ashley attained a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism in 2023. Balsavias also covered major breaking news including the 2022 Georgia Senate runoff election. She served the station for more than a year from May 2022 to May 2023.

Balsavaias works as a reporter and multimedia journalist at WECT News in Wilmington, North Carolina. Before joining WECT News in July 2023, she worked at NBC News as a social media intern from January 2023 to April 2023. While there, Ashley was in charge of editing videos for TikTok stories, selecting top-performing stories of the week, and writing copies. Prior to working for NBC News, she served as a show-staff volunteer at Grady Newsource in Athens, Georgia. Balsavias served the role from January 2022 to May 2022 where she operated teleprompter.
During her time at Grady Newsource, she also served as an anchor, producer, and multimedia journalist from March 2022 to January 2023. Ashley also worked as the digital anchor for a midterm election show and edited video packages for a weekly broadcast. Later on, she was promoted to producer manager before working as an anchor, MMJ, and producer at Grady Newsource. Besides this, she also covered the 2023 spring semester that occurred at the Athens-Clarke County Commission.
Previously, Ashley worked as a digital director for the Society of Professional Journalists from August 2022 to April 2023. While there, she produced graphic content that promoted events and managed social media accounts. Before serving at the Society of Professional Journalists, she served as a reporter at The Oglethorpe Echo. Prior to working at The Oglethorpe, Balsavias served as a social media intern and copywriter at Kratos Agency from October 2022 to December 2022. While there, she ran social media accounts, edited copies, and worked together with designers to create reels for social media platforms.
Balavias began her career as a sports and news intern at Atmosphere in Austin, Texas. Her duties at the station were editing video content and writing stories. Initially, she worked for Habersham Broadcasting as an innovation fellow from February 2022 to May 2022. Aside from being a journalist, Ashley worked as an alumnae relation chair at Delta Zeta Sorority in Athens, Georgia. She also worked as a joint between active members and alumni as well as produced a bi-annual chapter newsletter.
Before working for the Delta Zeta Sorority, Balsavias served as a legal intern at Taylor Taylor, P.C. where she filed and organized paperwork. She also took part in active shadowing of an attorney’s day-to-day tasks and conducted various research. Previously, she worked for Olympia Gymnastic Training Centers as a summer camp instructor and coach from May 2021 to July 2021.
