Ben Frechette is an American Meteorologist working for NBC 5 since joining the station in November 2019. He is excited to deliver weather forecasts across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Northern New York; areas that are truly special to him.

Ben Frechette Career

Frechette grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts; an area with an assortment of year-round active weather. From loud summertime thunderstorms to harsh Nor’easters and blizzards, the weather captivated Frechette’s interest from a very young age. Frechette turned this passion into a profession, spending four years at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon (formerly Lyndon State College) and earning his bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences. He completed NVU-Lyndon’s renowned broadcast meteorology program and is familiar with the local community.

This is his first stint at a television station. He previously was at Maryland, where he forecasted the weather for energy and agricultural interests. Before this, he honed his forecasting skills right in the station’s backyard, providing weather updates to the Vermont Agency of Transportation while in college. He is thankful for all those who have mentored him and helped him achieve his dream.

When he is not working, he enjoys the outdoors and likes to hike. Frechette’s next goal is learning how to ski! Additionally, he is always in search of a music festival to attend, particularly in the jazz or electronic music categories.
