As a senior at Granite Hills High School, he was the only 135-pounder on the football team, let alone in the Grossmont League. He miraculously avoided injury, but it’s difficult to get hurt while standing on the sidelines. Steve earned a journalism degree from Cal-State Northridge. He won an Associated Press Award as a senior for a feature on “Sports Bars.” Surprisingly, that story was only worth a “B” in class. Steve was hired as a Production Assistant at Fox Sports News in Los Angeles shortly after graduating.

When growing up in San Diego with a father who was a sports anchor, meant that the topic of conversation in Steve’s house usually centered around the Padres, Aztecs, Clippers, and Chargers. This made sense that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and become a sports anchor himself. When living in San Diego and telling the stories of the teams he has followed his whole life was a dream come true for him.

When he was a kid, he figured that one day he would play sports professionally. He states that his body type would not let that happen. Being a senior at Granite Hills High School, he was the only 135-pound kid on the football team, and in the Grossmont League for that matter. He states that he never got hurt and it is tough to get hurt standing on the sidelines.

His first on-air job came a year and a half later when he became the Sports Director at KAWE in Bemidji, Minnesota. It was the first time in Steve’s life that he ever experienced below-zero temperatures. After one year in the upper Midwest, he was off to Redding, California, and KRCR where he was the Weekend Sports Anchor.

Later on, she went on to move to the Midwest as a Weekend Sports Anchor for WWMT in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He got a chance to cove Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame athletics. Four years later in Michigan, his family and he had enough of the cold weather and decided it was time to return to California. In the month of December, he was hired as the Sports Producer at KGTV. He lives in San Carlos with his family.
