Johansen spent 37 years in television broadcasting dating back to his first anchor job in college. He went to Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and joined the staff at WEEK-TV in his junior year. After graduation, he spent time in Lansing, MI, San Luis Obispo, CA, and Las Vegas, NV prior to landing in Cincinnati in 1992.
He stayed at WKRC for the next 26 years prior to venturing out to North Carolina for a year. Johansen says that was a difficult transition year as his family stayed in Ohio as he moved back and forth. He says it’s great to be back in Ohio and join a fantastic team at NBC4. Johansen has done almost everything in the business from news to sports. Johansen spent 18 years as a Sports Director and 11 years as the Voice of the Bengals on the radio. He has called NFL and college football and also college basketball for CBS and Fox Sports.
Johansen is married to Colleen. The couple is blessed with four children, three sons and a daughter ranging in age from 30 all the way down to 12. Johansen and his wife Colleen have a heart for the community and have helped raise more than $3 million for various charities with their own golf tournaments and concert banquets.
