Brad Nitz Biography
Brad Nitz is an American meteorologist working for WSB as the chief meteorologist since joining the station in January 2006. Previously, he worked for NBC News in New York as a meteorologist.
Brad Nitz Education
Nitz joined Florida State University when he finished his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and minors in Mathematics and Communication.

Nitz serves WSB as the chief meteorologist. His forecasts appear every weekday on Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and on WSB Tonight at 11 p.m. He has served as a member of the American Meteorological Society for more than 3 decades. Also, he holds their Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal Of Approval.
Prior to joining WSB-TV, he worked for NBC News as a Meteorologist from July 2005 to December 2005. He worked as a meteorologist primarily on MSNBC and NBC Weather Plus. Also, he led the broadcast of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. From July 2002 to July 2005, he was a Senior meteorologist at WJXT. There, he served as a weekday meteorologist at 5:00, 10:00, and 11:00 p.m.
Before WJXT, he was a Meteorologist at WESH 2 CW18 from August 1997 to July 2002. There, he was a weekday noon and 5:30 pm meteorologist. Because of his work as a meteorologist, he has received numerous awards, including an Emmy Award for his 2017 coverage of Hurricane Irma. Also, he has won several Emmy nominations for broadcasting metro Atlanta’s tornadoes and flooding.
Nitz received the Excellence Award from the Atlanta chapter of the American Meteorological Society for “Outstanding and innovative live team coverage” of harsh weather. Several times, the Associated Press has awarded him for “Best Weather Reporting” counting his work broadcasting tornadoes, harsh weather, and winter storms in metro Atlanta.
