Bret Beherns is an American Sports Reporter working for WICA News in Champaign serving as a sports director. Before joining WCIA News in August 2013, he worked as a sports anchor and reporter at WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois.

Beherns attended Mahomet-Seymour High School where he graduated in 2005 before later joining Parkland College where he earned an Associate of Arts in Radio and Television in 2008. After college, he furthered his studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where Bret attained a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television in 2010.

Behern serves as a sports director at WICA News in Champaign, Illinois. He joined the station in August 2013 working as a sports anchor and reporter a position he served from August 20013 to April 2015. Later on, Bret was promoted to weekend sports anchor and reporter at WICA News. He served there from April 2015 to December 2015 and afterward, he landed a position as a sports director in December 2015.
Previously, Bret worked as a sports intern at WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois from August 2009 to December 2009. After that, he secured a position as a sports anchor and reporter at the same station where he worked from January 2010 to August 2013. Prior to working for WSIL-TV, he served as a sports reporter and anchor at WSIU-TV. While there, Behern worked as a director where he led the student sports department from August 2008 to May 2010.
He started his career as a sports intern at WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois where he worked for eight months from August 2007 to March 2008. Before working for WICA News, Bret worked for The News-Gazette as a sports stringer in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. He served the station for more than a year from December 2004 to March 2006 where he wrote game stories.
