Brian Shrader Biography
Brian Shrader is an American Reporter/Producer/Achor/Meteorologist working for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina where he serves the station as News Anchor/Reporter/Meteorologist. He has been working with the station since November 2006.

Shrader is a proud graduate of Mississippi State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology in the year 2020. He also studied Mass Communication at Campbell University where he studied between 1996 and 2005.

Shrader works with WRAL-TV where he serves the station as a Morning Traffic Anchor/General Assignment Reporter and handles live breaking news coverage in addition to filling in on the weather. Prior to WRAL-TV, he was working as a Web Producer for WTVD-TV. He worked for the station in Durham, North Carolina between December 2004 and November 2006.
He has also previously worked with News14 Carolina in Raleigh, North Carolina where he was serving the station as a producer between November 2003 and December 2004. Shrader has also previously worked with WRAL-TV as a Web editor/assignment editor. He worked for the station between November 1996 and April 2001.
Shrader explains that journalists play a vital role in the republic. He explains that this is a grave responsibility for him. He further explains that thinking critically and reporting honestly, accurately, and fairly. Away from work, he enjoys playing piano, being outside, cooking, traveling, geeky board games, and classical movies.
Shrader enjoys non-fictional stories and is a big fan of essayist Florence King. He explains that almost all his favorite TV shows are older than his. Among his favorite shows includes “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” Hawaii Five-O,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and “The Rockford Files.”
Brian further explains that he also loves “Match Game” and “The Gong Show.” He explains that among the shows he has produced in his lifetime, he loves “The Sopranos,” “Poirot,” “Murder, She Wrote,” and “Hill Street Blues.” He is also a big fan of British comedies. These include “Fawlty Towers,” “Are You Being Served?” “Absolutely Fabulous,” and “Keeping Up Appearances. ”
He explains that despite “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” not being the greatest movie he has ever seen, it is his favorite movie. Brian also loves the original Star Trek II, III, and IV trilogy. When the TV is on, he is usually watching Turner Classic Movies. Among his favorite Classic movies include “A Face in the Crowd,” “Sunset Blvd,” and “All About Eve.” Asides from this, he loves a good documentary and some of his favorites include “American Movie,” “Salesman, and “Grey Gardens.”
Asides from this, he loves old-time radio. The original radio “Gunsmoke” is his favorite radio drama. He explains that the sound effects, stories, and acting hold up really well. He further explains that sixty years later, the material is still stunning. His favorite radio comedy is “Vic and Sade.” This is a comedy soap opera way ahead of its time.
His favorite website is WRAL.com but a couple of sites for his fellow weather nerds. These include tropicaltidbits.com and pivotalweather.com having great data for free. He explains that the College of DuPage also has a great site for mobile data, radar, and many other products at weather.cod.edu and satellite.
Brian explains that what he loves about North Carolina is simply everything. He loves the perfect mix of cosmopolitan and pastoral. He further explains that it is changing but the best qualities remain. Among his most memorable assignments include a terrible memory and states that what stands out most is flying in Sky 5 as Hurricane Dorian moves off the coast in 2019.
He explains that they took off early in the morning and flew first to Myrtle Beach. Shrader explains that Pilot Mitch Breese, photographer Keith Baker, and followed the coast all the way to Beaufort where they stopped for fuel. He explains that the airport had no electricity but they offered us a pack of nabs for lunch. This was as welcome as an Angus Barn sirloin.
They later headed up to Ocracoke to look at the damage. These are the outer bands that were still whipping the Outer Banks. He explains that it was amazing to see sound side flooding happening in real-time from Sky 5. Shrader explains that it was a gusty, bumpy adventure one that he would never forget.
He was raised in Fuquay where he was watching “Action News 5” with Adele Arakawa, Charlie Gaddy, Tom Suiter, and Bob DeBardelaben. Shrader explains that he has always desired to work for WRAL-TV. He explains that there, he was having the time of his life. Shrader really wants to think his viewers for their remarkable kindness since he started. He has become part of the day and is a real privilege, and appreciates it.

She joined Shrader in the month of January 2020 and was fully spoiled in February.
