Tony Rice Biography
Tony Rice is an American Scientist/Ambassador/Contributor working as the NASA-JPL Ambassador/InfoSec data scientist and as a Contributor for WRAL-TV. Asides from this, he is also the Solar System Ambassador at Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Tony Rice Career
Rice works for WRAL where he serves the station as a contributor. In addition to this role at the station, he also serves as a Solar System Ambassador at Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Asides from this, he is also an active board member of the North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair since 2021.
Between the years 1992 and 2000, he worked at Nortel Networks where he was serving as a Senior Member of the Scientific Staff. Prior to that, he interned as a software engineer at BAE Systems/British Aerospace. He went to Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va where he attained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1992.
Rice also publicized that his most memorable moment at the station was the August 21, 2017, solar eclipse. His other memorable moment was the July 8, 2011 launch of the STS-135, during the final space shuttle mission. He also hosts a live viewing event of the launch at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kitty Hawk, N.C. Away from work, he enjoys helping out in his community by volunteering with the National Academy of Sciences Entertainment Exchange.
