Slocum serves at WXII 12 News as a meteorologist. His fascination with weather may be traced back to a single childhood recollection from when he was ten years old. A sudden storm moved in as I was playing outside on a sunny July afternoon. He recalls a police officer driving through the neighborhood and announcing the impending arrival of a tornado.

Brian climbed on his bike instead of going inside and was about to peddle toward the approaching storm when his father encouraged him inside. As the storm raged outside, they took refuge in the basement, but Brian has been fascinated by severe weather ever since.

He began his TV weather career with WMDT-TV in Salisbury, Maryland, before moving to the Triad in 2005. He previously worked at stations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including a three-year term as Chief Meteorologist for WBOY-TV in Clarksburg.

Brian enjoys engaging with students and discussing the weather when he isn’t tracking storms. He also likes to travel, listen to live music, and participate in sports. Slocum, on the other hand, prefers to spend time with his family at home.
