Caroline Carithers is an American meteorologist working for WKRG as a morning and midday meteorologist at WKRG News 5 since September 2021. She joined the station in May 2019 as a reporter and meteorologist.

Carithers attended the University of South Alabama after completing her high school education. When she finished her studies, she became a cum laude graduate and attained a Bachelor Of Science in Meteorology and a Math minor.

During her time there, she was named a NOAA Hollings Scholar. Through this, she had internships in Norman at the National Severe Storms Laboratory. Also, News 5 First Alert Storm Team’s Meteorologist John Nodar served as a mentor. Carithers issued an undergraduate thesis about sea breezes in hopes of helping forecasting.

Carithers works for WKRG as a morning and midday meteorologist at WKRG News 5 since September 2021. She joined the station in May 2019 as a reporter and meteorologist. She found her passion for the weather when she was on the Gulf Coast.

This was when moved to Daphne from Michigan after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. At the time, she witnessed the broadcast meteorologists in action. Following this, she toured the WKRG studio and since then realized her dream to be a meteorologist.

Before WKRG, she worked for WeatherVision in Ocean Springs as a broadcast meteorologist. While there, she forecasted and broadcasted for multiple stations around the United States. During her free time, she is a weather nerd who tracks storms all over the state on radar and forecasts for active weather locations.

Also, she loves going to the beach or out on the boat with friends and family. Further, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and dog.

Carithers’s older sister, Emily was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at the age of 27. After noticing blood on her stool, she visited the doctor where she had a CT scan and later a colonoscopy after the doctors said that it might be cancer.

Next, she had surgery where a foot of her colon and 23 nearby lymph nodes were removed. Later, they revealed that she had cancer as the mass and 13 of the 23 lymph nodes were cancerous. Emily underwent 35 rounds of chemotherapy, a number of months of chemotherapy in pill form, and is in the middle of an immunotherapy treatment regimen.

After her encounter, she started a non-profit called “Fighting with Hope.” She alongside her team sends other cancer patients chemo boxes. The box consists of the best and most useful things for cancer patients. Through the non-profit’s site, one can donate a box or partner with them to help bring hope to cancer patients.

Carithers is married to Collin Carithers in July in Michigan. The pair met at the University of South Alabama during Caroline’s second-semester freshman year. Further, they were lab partners in a Physics I class. They dated for 3 and a half years before he proposed to her in November during their senior year. Collins proposed to her at Bellingrath Gardens. Collins works as a mechanical engineer. Additionally, they have dogs named Biscuit and Scout. They reside on a farm in Mobile County
