Chase Thomason is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist working at KUTV where he serves as a broadcast meteorologist. He joined the 2News Weather Team in 2014 where he was previously working with KFOR in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as a meteorologist.

He graduated from Alta High School and later in 2010, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in meteorology and a double minor in mathematics and broadcast journalism. While there, he chased twisters, weathered record-breaking ice storms, and floated flash floods.

Thomason works with 2News Weather Team/KUTV where he serves the station as a broadcast meteorologist. Prior to KUTV, he was working with KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City where he was a meteorologist and storm chaser.

His love for Mother Nature’s fury started in Sandy, Utah where he was raised. In his backyard, was able to watch a unique weather phenomenon that only happens in two parts of the United States: lake-effect snow. It is this sight that ignited his passion for weather.

He kick-started his career in Texas where he was working as a meteorologist for a number of years. Later on, he moved to Oklahoma City where he had a crucial part in the National Emmy award-winning coverage of the Moore 2013 tornado. Asides from that, he gained national recognition for chasing the May 19 and May 31 storms in 2013- The Weather Chanel, CNN, and MSNBC all featured his video.

He is excited to be back home where he can put his years of expertise to good use. During his first year at KUTV, he won a Regional Emmy Award for his report on Utah’s famous snow. The year 2021 saw him being honored with a Regional Emmy for Weather Anchor.

Away from forecasting the weather, he enjoys hiking with his dog or going on the golf course. Additionally, he is an avid snowboarder and religiously flocks to Utah’s first snow of the season. Asides from that, he enjoys traveling and hops on a plane whenever he gets the chance.
