Chelsey Hernandez is an American journalist working for KEYE as a host of We Are Austin on weekdays from 9 to 10 a.m. on CBS Austin. She joined the station in March 2021. Previously, she served ABC13 Houston as a consumer reporter and anchor since joining the team in March 2018.
She previously spent three years at KENS-5 in San Antonio, where she had several roles including producing breaking news along with entertainment and lifestyle segments. Hernandez is also a traffic guru and helped drivers navigate the nation’s seventh-largest city.
She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio. After graduating, she got her journalism job at KAVU in Victoria, Texas her hometown as a general assignment reporter and was then promoted to the morning entertainment reporter/producer.
In April 2015, Hernandez started with KENS 5 in San Antonio. In 2018, she got a job with Disney-owned KTRK station in Houston, Texas. She anchors weekday afternoons at 3 pm, 4 pm, and 4:40 pm as she shares money-saving tips and consumer news!
