Chris Bruin is an American meteorologist working for The Weather Channel. He has been working for the station since July 2017.
Chris Bruin Career
Bruin is an on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel television network. He can also be found during the week in the afternoons on Weather Center Live. He also makes many appearances on AMHQ and even Weather Underground. Bruin had also worked for other stations prior to joining The Weather Channel. For instance, he previously worked for KIFI-Local News 8 where he served as the morning meteorologist. He also spent some time serving for the ABC, CBS, and Fox affiliates in East Idaho and Western Wyoming and covers hub cities of Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Jackson Hole.
Bruin has managed to enclose extreme weather like severe thunderstorms, heavy snowstorms, and wildfires. Additionally, he has also covered avalanches, dangerously-cold temperatures, and extreme heatwaves. His career started at WFSU-TV where he served as a Broadcast Forecaster. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology from Florida State University in 2014.
Bruin started loving the weather when he was still a young boy. He was fascinated by the rare cold fronts that would make it all the way through South Florida and the summers that followed. His time with the weather channel has enabled him to enclose so many different weather stories. Some of the stories include Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Florence & Michael as well as other destructive storms. He educated his viewers on the Total Solar Eclipse in 2017. He also covered intense winter storms including the Bomb Cyclone in the Plains during the 2018-2019 winter season, where winds gusted to nearly 80mph for hours on end in Rapid City, SD.
Bruin also enjoys spending his time with his wife, son, and adventurous pup. They enjoy camping in some of the most epic spots around the country, spending time in the community with their local church, or huddling up in their favorite coffee shop.
