Chris Costa Biography
Chris Costa is an American Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter and multimedia journalist working for WCSH as a weekday and weekend multimedia journalist, since January 2021. This is his return to NEWS CENTER MAINE – he first served there from July 2015 to August 2019, then joined WCSH at KHOU 11. At KHOU he served as a multimedia journalist, and after that, he now returned to WCSH.
In 2005 he joined Newton South High School where he graduated in 2009, with a diploma, and later on, he joined Boston University College of Communication where he earned a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism in 2013.
He worked at KHOU 11 in Houston, Texas for one and a half years, and while he was there, he was sent off to report the mass shooting in Odessa and Midland, report news of the FBI raid on the shooter’s home, and document the grief and simultaneous resilience of the Permian Basin community.
Costa led the reports of the historic NASA and SpaceX launch of the Demo-2 mission in addition to reporting on the death of Houston native George Floyd, marches, protests, and calls for social justice. In addition, he was awarded a National Edward R. Murrow award in 2018, for his hard news about officer-involved shootings.
Furthermore, Costa won a Boston and New England Regional Emmy as the outstanding videojournalist for covering a story about a mother from Maine who lost her son in 2015 while on a cargo ship El Faro. He went to Houston in April 2018, where he reported on former First Lady Barbara Bush’s funeral.
Chris reported the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII from Minneapolis in February 2018. Costa traveled for the second time to Central Georgia in September 2017, after Hurricane Irma forced people to evacuate from their homes.
