Chris Francis Biography
Chris Francis is an American Anchor/Reporter/Director/Consultant working for KIRO 7 News in Seattle, Washington where he serves the station as a Sports Director. He has been working for the station since August 2019.
Chris Francis Education
Francis attended The University of Akron where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Media Studies. There, he studied between 1989 and 1993. He was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta and was also working with WZIP-FM radio as a DJ/Reporter.

Francis works with KIRO 7 News where he serves the station as a Sports Anchor/Director. He can be found bringing Sports News from Climate Pledge Arena, TMobile Park, Husky Stadium, and Lumen Field just to name but a few. The month of September year 2022 saw him mark 30 years in local broadcasting and has been covering the local teams for more than a third of that time.
Chris is responsible for producing and anchoring all of KIRO 7’s sportscasts and specials which include GameDay Live, coverage of March Madness, and the Emmy-nominated Scouting Report. This report is seen every Saturday night during the NFL season. He has covered stories such as the excruciating goal-line defeats and “The Trade,” the Birth of NHL’s Kraken, and the ongoing Mariners playoff drought. Asides from this, he has dabbled on the news side of things during his early years at KIRO.
Prior to joining KIRO 7 News, he worked for FRMediaTrain as a Media Training Consultant in Denver, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. He has also previously worked as a Freelance Sports Anchor for Pac-12 Network in San Francisco between September 2016 and August 2019. Prior to this, he also worked with KOMO TV and Q13 Fox in Seattle, Washington as a Freelance Sports Anchor/News Reporter. This is in addition to working with WDJT CBS 58 in the Greater Milwaukee Area. There, he served the station as a Sports Director between June 2006 and September 2009.
