Chris Sowers Biography

Chris Sowers is an American meteorologist working for Action News since May 2011. You can catch him every weekend morning from 6-8 am, 9 am-10:30 am, and 12-1 pm.

Chris Sowers Career

Sowers had originally worked as a weather producer for 6abc beginning in October 2000. He left Philadelphia in 2015 to start his on-air career as Chief Meteorologist for WNKY in Bowling Green, Kentucky. From there, he went to the “Windy City” of Chicago where he was the weekend meteorologist. He is a Glassboro, NJ native, who attended Kean University in Union, New Jersey, and graduated with a Meteorology degree.

Additionally, Sowers has his NWA Seal from the National Weather Association and numerous certificates for mesoscale circulation forecasting. When he is not working, Sowers enjoys running, weight lifting, and spending time with his family and friends.

He also enjoys the thrill of competition. While growing up, Sowers wrestled and played baseball for 15 years. He competes in several charity races each year, including kayak marathons and stair climb, to help raise money for local charities.

Sowers has a twin brother by the name of Gray who on January 6, 2010, was believed to have been shot and killed. However, it was later revealed that it was not meteorologist Chris Sowers’s brother who had been shot but a different person sharing the same name. He also has a younger brother Jackson. Sowers has however not revealed the names of his parents.

Sowers is married to his long-time girlfriend Lori Buerklin. The couple got married at Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove township. The wedding was attended by their friends and family including his brothers Gray and Jackson as best men.
