Christie Diez, (Christie Ethridge Diez), is an American Reporter working with 11Alive News where she serves the station as a Reporter for the morning show, Morning Rush. Asides from this, she also serves as the anchor for 11Alive Weekend Mornings and creator of the weekly series content Behind the Headline.

Diez formerly worked for CBS/NBC station WRDW/WAGT in Augusta, Georgia, for five years as an anchor and reporter. She was a key component of the program that won the Emmy for Best Morning Newscast in 2018 for coverage of Category 5 Hurricane Michael in the Gulf of Mexico as the sole live reporter on location.

Christie doesn’t have time to rest, and she likes it that way. During her five years in Augusta at the CBS/NBC station WRDW/WAGT, she refined her talents as an anchor and reporter. She began her career as a multi-skilled journalist and was quickly promoted to First at Five Anchor. She worked as a field analyst in Richmond County.
During the Masters, she field-anchored from Augusta National, documented Arnold Palmer’s final journey to First Tee, and shot an interview for Gary Player. She also learned how important weather reporting is in Augusta. When the city was paralyzed by an ice storm, she spent three nights on the floor of the Emergency Operations Center, reporting on updates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. She spoke with Bobby Christine, a former National Guard general who is now the U.S. Attorney, and Gov. Nathan Deal as they examined the devastation. Her award-winning study of a fatal fire at a retirement community influenced the area’s building codes.
She has conducted one-on-one interviews with civil rights icon Ambassador Andrew Young on his return to the pulpit, Attorney General Chris Carr on Atlanta’s sex trafficking epidemic, and students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C. since returning to her hometown of Atlanta.
Diez also captured one group’s historic voyage to cheer on the University of Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl by riding (and sleeping!) on a charter bus from Atlanta to Pasadena, California. She photographed and edited all of her stories for 37 hours on the bus, using only a lantern. Only a real fan of the Georgia Bulldogs would volunteer for such a ride!
Christie, a true Atlantan, perpetuates the city’s traditions in the heart of the city. For the Peachtree Road Race, she joined the Runner Cam Team. Since she was 11 years old, she had been operating it with her father. She also covered Atlanta United’s championship parade, which took over the streets of downtown after the team won their first Major League Soccer title. She enjoys working out when she is not working and is a great supporter of local professional, college, and high school sports.
