Gina Swanson is an American Award-winning anchor and reporter working for WDSU News as a reporter and anchor. Before joining WDSU News, she worked in Austin, Texas as an anchor and reporter.

Swanson attended Edna Karr Magnet High School where she finished before later joining Louisiana State University in 1997 where she attained a minor in History and a degree in Mass Communication in 2001. Prior to joining WDSU-TV, Gina served as an anchor in Austin, Texas, where she worked for two years. While there, she covered exclusive information mainly focusing on government issues and the local community.
Before working in Austin, Texas, Gina spent three years working in North Louisiana where she served as an anchor and reporter. She started her journalism career working as a weekend evening anchor in Monroe, Louisiana. During her period there, Swanson covered major news which won her an Emmy award. Over the years, she has covered numerous news including the Saints’ Super Bowl season. She has also met prominent people such as United States Presidents, politicians, and celebrities.
In addition to this, Gina has also worked in different places such as Washington, D.C., and Chicago. Her dream of becoming a journalist emerged at a young age which continues even when she was at college. What makes her choose journalism as her career path is the opportunity it gives her to explore new places and interact with people. Aside from working as a journalist, Swanson is also an adjunct professor at Loyola University in New Orleans.
