Cindy Hsu is a Chinese American Emmy Award-winning reporter and anchor working at CBS2|WCBS. She has been working at the station since joining in June 1993.

Hsu serves as a reporter and anchor at CBS2|WCBS. She has also won several awards for enclosing stories like “Smuggled from China,” which unmasked the terrible plights of Chinese refugees trying to make it to America. Her well-known painful story, “Bringing Rosie Home” also earned her an Emmy Nomination and the New York AP Broadcasters Award for Best Feature.
Prior to CBS2|WCBS, she worked at several stations in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Steubenville, Ohio, and Richmond, Virginia. She has also worked alongside several nonprofit organizations including the Asian-American community as well as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She was also involved with several philanthropic affiliations including a big brother/big sister program called The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX).
In addition to that, she also worked with The Humane Society of New York, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Museum of Chinese in America, and The Children’s Miracle Network. Hsu also worked as President of the New York Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association. She went to Virginia Tech where she graduated. During a July 2021 interview with Dana Tyler, Hsu revealed that she attempted suicide and had suffered from depression. She made an attempt on her life when her mother and then 11-year daughter were at a museum. Her mother rushed her to the ER. Later, she woke up at the hospital and realized she was not dead. Further, she voiced that she had no recollection of her mom finding her.
Following her 2 weeks stay at the hospital, she saw a psychiatrist and frequent group meetings alongside people who had similar experiences. The group meetings comforted her as she felt that she was not alone. Additionally, she voiced that she didn’t ask her workmates for help because she didn’t know that she had depression.
Moreover, she said that she shared her story in hopes of speaking to everyone including those who are suffering and their loved ones. Also, she voiced that there is no shame in going through mental illness and encouraged people to recognize the signs of depression in their loved ones. Hsu also revealed that she was scared of staying at the psychiatric hospital. On a side note, Rosie is a strong mental health advocate.
