Cory James is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working at DC News. He has been working at the station since joining in May 2022. He previously worked at CBS 2 from March 2020 till his departure in April 2022.

James serves as the co-anchor of the DC News Now weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. He previously worked at CBS’ flagship station, WCBS-TV, in New York City where he served as a general assignment reporter. Prior to his tenure at WCBS-TV|CBS2, he worked at ABC O&O in Fresno, California where he served as the weekend evening anchor. During his tenure at ABC O&O, he managed to win several awards for reporting on a story that assisted law enforcement track down suspects accused of kidnapping and beating a teenage girl.
James started his journalism career at KEYT-TV/KCOY-TV/KKFX-TV in Santa Barbara, California where he served as a reporter. The first story he enclosed was the Isla Vista mass shooting that killed six people and injured a lot of people in and around the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.
James went to the University of Georgia where he graduated and majored in Digital and Broadcast Journalism and minored in Communication Studies. During his time in college, he spent some time as an intern at WSB-TV and CNN in Atlanta. Whenever he is not busy working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends. He also enjoys playing with his Goldendoodle named Kensington, rollerblading, and cooking.
