Bunting joined Southeastern Illinois College in 2011 after finishing her high school studies. In 2013, she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Pre-Law. In 2014, she transferred to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, TV, and Digital Media in 2016. There, she was involved with the Golden Key Honor Society, the Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, and the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

Following her time in Rockford, Bunting moved to Champaign, where she worked as a lead reporter and substitute anchor at WCIA for 2 years. She took two years off from the news to work in real estate. During this hiatus, she served First Look Appraisals as an appraisal coordinator.
Bunting competed in the pageant circuit in high school and college. While growing up, she played the piano and did competitive dance. She found her love for public speaking after she won an award for a speech detailing her experience as a McDonald’s Crew Trainer in high school.
