McKee received a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Defense Information School in 1997. Afterward, he went on to join Penn State University where he graduated with a degree in meteorology. Later on, he furthered his studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) where he attained a degree in Police Science and Criminal Justice.
