Dan Marries is an American Anchor working with KOLD News 13(CBS) in Tucson, Arizona where he serves the station as an Evening News Anchor. He has been working with the station since the month of June 1999.

Marries works with KOLD News 13 where he serves the station as an Evening News Anchor. He states that one ought to find a job he loves and he will never work a day in his/her life. Marries goes on to further explain that this is exactly how he feels about working as the evening news anchor for KOLD News 13 where he has been keeping Tucsonans informed since the year 1999.

He kick-started his television news career in the year 1995 while he was still a junior at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO. His internship led to his first job in journalism where he was working as the morning anchor and noon weatherman. Further news jobs took him to Mankato, MN, Yuma, and finally Tucson.  It was while he was in college that he spent four summers as a wildland firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management.

Dan is actively involved in the community. He happens to be the charter president of the Casas Adobes Optimist Club. For several years, the club has adopted upwards of 30 less-fortunate families during Christmas. This helped in making sure the kids had presents under the tree and food on the table. He is also the founding trustee board member of the Greater Tucson Foundation assisting the local fire community with funding, technology, tools, advanced training, survivors’ help, equipment, and education campaigns to support these brave men and women.

Every year he volunteers during Love of Reading Week, where he spends time with children letting them know the importance of education. He is also a frequent visitor to the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center, visiting with veterans to thank them for their service. In the past 11 years, he has served as the official announcer for the Tucson Veteran’s Day Parade and the Tucson Rodeo Parade telecast. His schedule is kept busy emceeing and attending hundreds of fundraisers.

He has also been recognized with numerous awards as a journalist including two Emmys, one of which came from a half-hour documentary he shot, produced, and wrote on one of his three trips to Vietnam with local veterans. He has also won a Communicator’s Award for a rodeo story on legendary Ty Murray, and Ty’s efforts to give retired bucking to Vietnam with local veterans. Asides from that, he has also been recognized several times by the Arizona Associated Press.
