Daniel McFarland Biography

Daniel McFarland is an American meteorologist and multimedia journalist working for KVOA as a weekday and weekend meteorologist and multimedia journalist. He joined KVOA in December 2019, after previously working at WGXA.  

Pensacola Beach is his native home and this is where his interest in weather began after he tracked ocean swells in his teen years. He also gained interest in weather after the 2004-2005 hurricane season when Hurricane Ivan destroyed his childhood home. He attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, and minors in mathematics and communications. The American Meteorological Society Certified Daniel with its Broadcast Meteorologist Seal thus making him the only ly meteorologist in Tucson with the seal.

Before he joined KVOA, he worked at WGXA in Macon, Georgia and while he was there, he covered the direct impacts of Hurricanes Irma and Michael. In addition, he has also covered multiple massive tornado outbreaks, such as January 2017, an outbreak in Middle, Georgia that saw 40 confirmed touchdowns in just 24 hours. During his leisure time, he enjoys hiking around the Tucson mountains, going to the gym, and spending ample time with his wife and their two dogs
