David Kelly Biography

David Kelly is an American reporter/anchor working for KVOA as a sports anchor on weekdays at 5:30 p.m. and on weekends at 10 p.m. He joined the KVOA team in September 2019, after previously working at KOLD-TV.

Kelly comes from a family of professional athletes as his father, Leroy, is an NFL Hall of Fame running back for the Browns. Pat, his late uncle, played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball for five different American League teams. Jacqueline, his mother, is a former TV news anchor. He grew up in Los Angeles and in 1986, he joined the University of Southern California where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sports information and broadcast journalism sequence in 1990.

He switched to television in July 2011, and ever since he has worked as a sports media personality in the Tucson market. In the summer of 2008, he relocated to Tucson where he worked for IMG College in the University of Arizona Athletic Department as a Corporate Partnership Sales/Broadcast representative. In addition, he has also worked for the Arizona Wildcats Radio Network as an anchor during football and men’s basketball broadcasts, as well as a play-by-play announcer for UA softball and baseball games.

Furthermore, he has extensive experience calling baseball games at all three levels of the minor leagues, including Visalia (A), Bakersfield (A), Wilmington, NC (AA), and Memphis (MLB). He began his radio broadcasting career in 1991 in Porterville, California, and spent over eight years in Cleveland, Ohio, covering the NFL’s Browns and hosting Indians postgame scoreboards and talk shows on WTAM-1100. David’s first appearance on television was as a Browns Insider on local Sunday Night Sports Shows in Cleveland in 2003. Kelly also worked at WOIO-TV as a weekend sports anchor.
