There, she received multiple awards for her investigations into failures by wireless providers during 911 calls that led to severe injuries and deaths, into lawmakers’ abuse of money meant to repair the city’s aging streets, and the nation’s apathy against a nursing home operator with hundreds of neglect complaints.

Before Indianapolis, Allbrittin was a morning anchor and reporter at WFIE in Evansville, Indiana. There, she established a live community food drive tournament that received state Associated Press awards. The tournament still continues with over 200,000 pounds of food now donated yearly during the high school football season. The project lines up with one of her passions, volunteering with programs concentrated on decreasing food insecurity.

The self-professed bookworm has worked on projects through libraries and schools to better childhood literacy rates and decrease the achievement gap for lower-income students. Since relocating to Richmond, she has participated in increasing awareness of substance use disorders, the disaster in our communities, and how we can fight it.
