Denise Nakano is an American Emmy-winning Reporter/Anchor working with KYW News radio where he serves the station as a midday Anchor. She has been working with KYW News radio since the summer of 2020.

Nakano works with KYW News radio where she serves the station as a midday Anchor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a minor in political science, from the University of the Pacific in Stockton. Nakano is an Emmy-winning television reporter and anchor in the United States.

Denise has been a weekend anchor for NBC10 since 2003, and she recently took on the role of weekend reporter and anchor for NBC10 News during the week. She previously worked as a General Assignment Reporter and fill-in anchor for KCPQ-TV in Seattle, Washington.

Nakano kick-started her broadcasting career as an assignment desk assistant (behind the camera) for KXTV in Sacrament, and her on-air career began in 1997 with KHSL in Chico, California, where she worked as a producer, reporter, and anchor. She joined KYW Newsradio in the summer of 2020 after 17 years as an anchor and reporter at NBC10.

As a broadcast journalist, Nakano tells people she has the best job in the world. “It’s the one job where I get to meet new people and learn something new every day,” she said. Nakano has been recognized with a national Edward R. Murrow Award for best documentary and with seven national and regional Emmy Awards for breaking news, investigative reporting, and her coverage of the local heroin epidemic. She has also been honored by the City of Philadelphia with a proclamation recognizing her reporting on the heroin crisis in Philadelphia.

Nakano is an active member of and previous national board representative of the Asian American Journalists Association. Nakano worked in radio prior to her 24 years in television news, getting her start in college at the NPR station located on the campus of her alma mater, the University of the Pacific. She also served as the morning drive anchor for an AM news-talk station in Stockton, California. She first entered television news as a desk assistant and writer in Sacramento while still in college.
