Larry Kane(born Lawrence Kanowitz) is an American Anchor/Author working with KYW Newsradio where he serves the station as a Contributor and as a consultant for NBC Sports Group. This includes NBC’s regional sports networks and the Golf Channel where he works on developing broadcaster’s careers and advising management.

He has been broadcasting news since he was 15 years old in the year 1957. After finishing his anchoring career ended, he hosted the Voice of Reason program on The Comcast Network through 2014.

Kane is most remembered in the annals of broadcast history for the success of Action News at WPVI in Philadelphia, where he helped catapult the station to first place in the news ratings in one year, from 1970 to 1971, with some of the most innovative minds in broadcasting.

In the early 1970s, the Action Reporting format transformed current broadcasting by emphasizing local news and remarkable community involvement by stations across the country. His accomplishment landed him in New York, where he worked for ABC News and WABC TV. After 18 months, Kane is the only news anchor who has worked at all three Philadelphia-based television stations for a total of 39 years.

Middle East peace talks, the return of American hostages from Iran to Wiesbaden, West Germany, the devastating earthquake in Naples, Italy, the 1987 Superpower Summit between Reagan and Gorbachev, seven trips to the Middle East, and an in-depth interview with Solidarity Leader Lech Walesa in Poland were among his assignments. He and his colleagues at WCAU TV were awarded the prestigious Alfred I. du Pont Award in 1985.

For their coverage of the battle between the Philadelphia Police and the anarchist group MOVE, they received the DuPont-Columbia University Award. Kane broke the story of the ill-fated Bay of Pigs assault in Cuba as a teenage radio news director in 1961, following months of building ties with the Miami-based Cuban exile underground.
