Dominic Garcia is an American Producer/Reporter/Anchor working for CBS4/KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado where he serves the station as an Anchor for CBS4 This Morning and CBS4 News at Noon. He joined the station in the year 2010 and left in 2013 before rejoining the station in 2017.

The 3rd generation native was raised in Southwest Denver and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. This is where he got to start his television career. There, he was delivering the school’s morning video announcements. Later on, he went to join Colorado State University where he was majoring in Communications, and worked at the student-run TV station, CTV.

His broadcasting career began when he was working at KOAT, the ABC affiliate station in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had also spent three years in the Land of Enchantment covering the entire state. Garcia states that he covered everything from crime to courts and snow storms. However, his favorite coverage was always about the people that made New Mexico so interesting. He profiled Brett Weitzel, a cancer survivor who had his leg amputated but still managed to compete in mountain bike events.

From New Mexico, he went on to join CBS4. During his three years when he was in Colorado, he covered some of the biggest stories to hit the state. On the day of the Aurora theater shooting Dominic, he reported live from the suspect’s booby-trapped house as police made their way in.

Asides from this, he also covered the Waldo Canyon Fire which scorched more than 18,000 acres, destroyed hundreds of homes, and took the lives of two people. On a lighter note, he states that he was also thrust into the Tim Tebow mania in the year 2011 and flew out to Boston in order to cover the Broncos in their playoff game against the Patriots.

The year 2013 saw his wife’s job take them to San Diego where he worked for the local CBS affiliate station, the number 1 station in the market. While there, he reported from the front lines of the Cocos Fire that destroyed 36 homes. Asides from this, he flew to Idaho in order to cover the abductions of teenager Hannah Anderson a story that caught national attention. Asides from reporting, he was the station’s primary fill-in anchor. He also anchored sports and covered the move of the San Diego Chargers to Los Angeles.

Prior to returning to CBS4, he was working on a documentary about the 75th anniversary or Pearl Harbor and won an Emmy for it. After his return to CBS4 News in the year 2018, he also traveled to report on the commissioning of the USS Colorado submarine. Through his coverage, which highlighted local Colorado sailors onboard and the history of previous USS Colorado vessels, he won an Emmy. He states that the reason he is a journalist s because he loves history and because he is terrible at math. He states that his dream interview is to interview George Washington. His role model happens to be his parents, and grandfather, Luis Garcia, a WWII Veteran.

Byrd III died after collapsing while on patrol in Iraq. Away from work, he enjoys traveling, skiing, photography, cycling, and golf. His favorite food happens to be anything from sushi to street tacos. His favorite sports team is Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche. On the other hand, his favorite author is David McCullough “1776.” He states that his favorite vacation spot is in Europe. He also loves Austria and Germany. Garcia’s favorite noise is the sound of a golf ball falling in the cup and aspen leaves in a breeze. On the other hand, his least favorite noise is the Alarm Clock. He states that his favorite music is Tupac, Dave Mathews Band, Earth Wind, and Fire. Dominic further states that what keeps him in Colorado is his family, skiing, sports, golf, mountains, and the list continues. The riskiest thing he has done is a move to California while his wife finished her medical residency. This later turned out to be a great experience.
