Mekialaya White is an American Anchor/Reporter working for CBS4 News/KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado where she serves the station as a Weekday Evening Anchor for the 4 PM News. She has undertaken this role since September 2022.

First, at 4 Weekday Anchor, Mekialaya White is a proud Coloradan and couldn’t ask for a better place to call home. She’s as thrilled to share your stories as she is passionate about the gorgeous state she grew up in! Mekialaya has worked her way up the ranks to her current role at CBS News Colorado. After several months as a part-time overnight writer and producer, she began reporting on-air at CBS News Colorado in January 2019.
White works for CBS4 News where she serves the station as a Weekday Evening Anchor. Mekialaya states that she couldn’t ask for a better place to call home other than Colorado. She states that she is happy to share the stories as she is passionate about the gorgeous state she was raised in.
White held a number of roles prior to reaching her current role at the station. She joined the station in July 2018 working as a Writer and producer. She has also served the station as a Reporter and fill-in anchor between January 2019 and August 2021. Prior to her role as an Evening Anchor, she was serving the station as a Weekend Morning Anchor and Reporter. She held this role between July 2021 and September 2022. Mekialaya states that it has always been her dream to be at CBS4 News and is honored to help give others a voice every day.
She kick-started her career in television at the University of Northern Colorado where she was double-majoring in journalism and communications and minoring in English. Mekialaya states that she is grateful that her news career has allowed her to experience a variety of cultures. She has been able to report, anchor, and produce in Wichita. Kansas; Cincinnati, Ohio, and her hometown of Colorado Springs. White states that she has earned a variety of storytelling awards which include the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for feature and weather coverage.
Among her most memorable shoots involve the wild severe weather and tornadoes of the Kansas plains and the anticipation of election nights and inaugurations. She has extensively covered major breaking events like the Planned Parenthood and Boulder shootings and Colorado wildfires.
She states that the stories she holds dearest to her heart are those where she is able to share inspiration and empower action. On a weekly basis, she works closely with Colorado nonprofit Raise the Future to highlight Wednesday’s Child youths in stories and help them find family permanency. Mekialaya states that during Black History Month in the year 2022, she was selected by the publication Denver Urban Spectrum as one of the city’s “African Americans Who Make a Difference.” Besides reporting, she loves to adventure(Ouray and Telluride are her absolute favorite parts of the state). She also enjoys spending time with her family, husband, and friends and volunteering in her community. White is a foodie and doesn’t hesitate to throw down in the kitchen.
Mekialaya states that the reason she is a journalist is that she empowers and serve others. She states that for her, it is a true honor. Her dream interview is to have an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Her role models have always been her parents as they are the most selfless, incredible people. She states that she doesn’t know what she would do without them. White states that she is proud to be living her dream job.
She states that one job she would never attempt is being Mathematician as she is too right-brained. White states that she has many favorite musicians but her go-to’s are R&B, alternative rock, and hip hop. She states that her hidden talent is being a dance machine and also speaks conversational French.
Away from work, she enjoys experiencing new things, photography, reading, cooking, hiking, and learning. Her favorite food happens to be Mexican food and sushi is a close second. She states that her favorite sports team is Nuggets and her favorite author is Gillian Flyn. White states that her favorite vacation spot is Tulum, Mexico, and one word that best describes CBS News Colorado is teamwork. She states that her least favorite household chore is cleaning stating that tidiness is huge for her. Her favorite noise on the other hand is the people she loves laughing together and her favorite word is Saunter. She states that she doesn’t have any least favorite word.
Mekialaya states that what keeps her in Colorado is her love for everyone and her family and friends. She states that the biggest risk she has taken is moving across the country to the Midwest solo and not knowing a soul for previous journalism jobs. White states that if she was to play a role in a movie, she has always desired to make a movie come as a reporter.

Together, they live with their pet a puppy, a chocolate Goldendoodle named Gia. She states that the puppy is her joy and together with her husband, they are proud parents to their puppy.
