Kennedy Cook is an American Reporter/Anchor working for CBS4/KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado where she serves the station as a Morning MSJ. Prior to CBS4 News, she was working for the Morning News team as a reporter and anchor in the Quad Cities.
Kennedy Cook Career
Cook works with CBS4 News where she serves the station as a Morning MSJ She states that she is happy to be joining the morning news crew at CBS Colorado. Previously, she worked with Paramount in Denver, Colorado as a Morning News Reporter. Prior to this, she worked with WHBF-TV where she was working as a Multimedia Journalist/Fill-in Anchor a role she held between September 2021 and September 2022. When she was in the Quad Cities, she did extensive coverage of school district changes, crime, and feature stories.
Cook states that she loves highlighting different trailblazers in the community. She got her start in broadcast news at her alma mater the University of Iowa. While there, she covered Hawkeye sports, student government, and multicultural news on campus. Kennedy states that the reason she chose to be a journalist is that no two days look the same when working as a journalist. She also states that a routine can get boring. Asides from this, she loves being a journalist because storytelling gives her the opportunity to share information in a unique and exciting way.
Cook’s first story was about an animal shelter that was full of new cats and dogs ready to get adopted. On the hand, her favorite story was covering a high school’s Black History Month Program. This showcased song, dance, and storytelling all centered around the theme of “Black Excellence.” This was a joy to watch and really made him excited for what the next generation had in store.
Her most memorable interview was a story she did on a man who contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis (Flesh-Eating Bacteria) on his buttock from sitting on a toilet at a gas station. The man had to get skin grafting done to patch up a very large portion of his bottom and doctors had to remove it. She advises people to always line the toilet.
On the other hand, she states that her dream interview is an interview with Snoop Dogg. Cook states that her role model is her elder brother. Kennedy’s dream job is to host her own talk show and the job she would never attempt is a glazier since gravity is not her friend. Her first TV appearance occurred when she played an extra for a film called “Of Boys and Men.” She states that, unfortunately, it has absolutely nothing to do with the R&B group Boyz II Men.
Her favorite musicians happen to be Kanye West and Luther Vandross. She states that her hidden talent is being a musical theater geek on the low. She can be caught casually signing the soundtrack of Wicked at 2 AM. Away from work, she enjoys exploring all Denver has to offer. Asides from this, she is a musical theatre geek and loves all things arts and entertainment.
Besides this, she loves a good hike and is happy to try out some winter sports. She also loves to live somewhere as electric and dynamic as Denver. She also loves shopping, breaking out in song and dance at any given moment, traveling, and going out to eat with her father(on his dime). Her favorite food happens to be sweet corn and her favorite TV show is Why Women Kill. Cook’s favorite author happens to be Bell Hooks and her favorite vacation spot is Mobay, Jamaica. Her least favorite household chore is every last one of them.
Cook’s least favorite word is “Due at checkout” while her favorite noise is hearing her mother say “There are tacos for you in the fridge.” On the other hand, her least favorite word is someone scratching themselves. She states that the music she listens to lately is renaissance by Queen Bey.
Kennedy states that what keeps her in Colorado is all the state has to offer. These include nature, culture, people, and mountains which are all so new to him. She states that she can’t wait to truly indulge in her new home. The biggest risk she ever took included packaging all her belongings and moving from the Midwest to Denver. If she was to play in a movie, she states she would pick the role of Tracee Ellis Ross.
