Don Slater is an American meteorologist working at WAVY-TV as the chief meteorologist and the dean of Hampton Roads weathercasters. He joined the WAVY-TV team in 1981, as the main weatherperson.

Slater works at WAVY-TV where he serves as the chief meteorologist. He has more expertise in forecasting weather in Hampton Roads than any other forecaster. In 1981, he became the primary weathercaster for WAVY-TV. Don previously worked as a weathercaster for the Nebraska Television Network.
He also worked at Fargo, North Dakota’s KIHI-TV. In addition, he has over 30 years of forecasting weather in Hampton Roads, which is more than double the local experience of any other area meteorologist. Slater attended Moorehead State University and Kearney State College. He also studied at Mississippi State, Oregon State, and Old Dominion University.
