Emily Linnert is an American journalist working for WOOD as the noon and 4 p.m. anchor and reporter. Additionally, she fills in on News 8 at 5 p.m. and The Seven. She joined the station in 2006 as the 11 p.m. producer and has served the station for more than 15 years. Previously, she briefly worked n as a fundraiser and event planner for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

One of her earliest memories is witnessing the 1980 tornado as it swept through her west-side neighborhood. She decided to try her hand at broadcasting after she competed on her high school’s awarded Interscholastic Forensic Public Speaking and Presentation team.
After graduating college, Linnert began working part-time at WLNS in Lansing on the assignment desk. Quickly, she climbed the ranks to reporting for the morning broadcast. In December 2000, she joined the anchor desk after an overnight snowfall of over 14 inches trapped her co-workers at home. Shortly after, she became a morning anchor and worked there for a few years. Linnert briefly worked n as a fundraiser and event planner for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
