Erika Tarantal is a well-reputed American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working for WCVB Channel 5 as an anchor and reporter for NewsCenter 5. She joined the station in February 2014. Also, she co-anchors WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 at 5 pm and 5:30 pm.

Moreover, she is a contributor for the station’s local news magazine, Chronicle, and champions WCVB’s recurring “5 For Good” stories. Her “5 for Good” story entitled “Food Truck Fighting Hunger” was awarded a prestigious national Gracie Award by The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) in 2017. Prior to working at WCVB, she worked for News 4 New York, NBC’s flagship station in New City. There, she anchored the weekend newscast and also was a primary fill-in anchor for WNBC’s weekday morning newscast “Today in New York”.
At the station, she has reported on major stories ranging from the death of Ope John Paul II and the election of Pope Benedict to our coverage during Superstorm Sandy and the tragic shootings in Newtown, CT. She first joined News 4 New York in December 2007 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to that, she worked for WVIT-TV as a general assignment reporter beginning in October 2005. Before then, she rose through the ranks at News 12 in the Bronx where she started as a general assignment reporter before being promoted to anchor of the station’s weekday morning newscast. Also, she served as a production assistant at WHDH-TV in Boston. Before commencing her career in broadcasting, she was a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston.
