Erin O’Hearn Biography

Erin O’Hearn is an American reporter/anchor for 6ABC in Philadelphia since joining the station in January of 2006. Since joining, O’Hearn has spent time both in the field and on the anchor desk. She attended and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science.

Erin O’Hearn Career

In the course of her career, O’Hearn has traveled to Egypt to prepare for the King Tut exhibit at the Franklin Institute. She as well visited Los Angeles several times to report the lighter side of news with updates on Dancing with the Stars and other ABC shows. She was the only on-air journalist to go live from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 2016, as Pope Francis delivered a mass and was serenaded before leaving Philadelphia.

Prior to arriving in the city of Brotherly Love, O’Hearn worked for 6abc’s sister station, WTVD, the ABC-owned station in Durham, North Carolina. While at WTVD, O’Hearn covered everything from breaking news to hurricanes ripping through the Tar Heel State to UNC pep rallies.

Additionally, she has a strong background covering politics, as she started her broadcasting career at Capital News 9 in her hometown of Albany, New York. Prior to getting into news, she spent time producing episodes of an MTV documentary called True Life.

When O’Hearn was working for MTV, she spent most of her time in New York City, although she traveled all over the country following teens and young adults as they grappled with issues like drug addiction and bipolar disorder. When she is not working, O’Hearn enjoys running, yoga, and traveling, though her true joy comes from spending time with her husband and their three children who love playing lacrosse, soccer, and basketball and cheering on the Philadelphia 76ers and the Eagles.
