After graduating from high school and earning her High School Diploma, she had to further her education. She joined Ryerson University in Toronto where she majored in Journalism. She did not stop there, she also attended Mississippi State University where she enrolled in the Broadcast Meteorology program.

During her working time there, she served as a video journalist and was instrumental in her coverage of the 2013 Alberta floods. Before that, she covered on-the-ground stories from those impacted by the flooding of Mara Lake in the Shuswap in B.C.
