She worked for other stations prior to joining The Weather Channel. For instance, she previously worked for WSVN in Miami. She had also spent some time working in West Palm Beach, Florida before joining WSVN in Miami. She managed to enclose two major hurricanes that directly impacted south Florida, including Matthew and Irma. Combs grew up in Florida and is used to the tropical weather and the effects it has on lives. She was living in Florida when the historic 2004 hurricane season when Hurricanes Frances, Jeanne, and Charley destroyed her hometown. Due to this, she is always determined to save lives throughout her career.
Combs started her career in Macon, Georgia after attaining her degree in journalism from the University of Central Florida and an operational meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. where she worked for some time enclosing the central Georgia weather prior to moving to Springfield, Missouri. While in Missouri, she enclosed different types of weather events including historic flooding, tornado outbreaks, and winter storms. Additionally, she is also a member of the National Weather Association and has their seal of approval for on-camera meteorologists.
