Femi is no stranger to the Evergreen State, having grown up in Everett, west of the mountains. He has always been interested in sports and has been since he was a child. In addition, he earned his journalism degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Later on, he got his breakthrough a few months after graduation when he started his broadcast journalism career at KTVZ in Bend, Oregon where he served as station as a news anchor, reporter, and producer before he was later promoted to serving as the sports director.

Furthermore, he covered the Oregon Ducks which included the men’s basketball team during the NCAA tournament’s first and second rounds in Spokane, Oregon State Beavers, Portland Trail Blazers, Portland Timbers, and Olympic Trials, and, of course, high school sports while in Bend. Femi returned to Washington after three years to cover the teams of the Inland Northwest. Abebefe is looking forward to being closer to home and in a community that cares about its sports teams.
