Frankie Katafias is an American Anchor/Reporter/Forecaster working for KIRO 7 News in Seattle, Washington where she serves the station as a Weather Forecaster. She has been working with the station since July 2022.
Frankie Katafias Education
Frankie attended Tesoro High School where he obtained his High School Diploma in 2012. She is a proud graduate of the Dominican University of California where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media Studies. There, she graduated with Departmental Honors in the year 2015.
Katafias was privileged to receive a tennis scholarship to Dominican, an NCAA DII program. She is now a student at Mississippi State University where she will study between August 2020 and will graduate in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in meteorology.

Katafias works with KIRO7 News where she serves the station as a Weather Forecaster. Prior to joining KIRO 7 news, she had spent about six years working across California and Idaho, While in California, she worked as a freelance reporter for CityTV-Lakewood, a government-owned station in Lakewood, California. previously, she was also working with KUSI-TV in San Diego.
While they were in San Diego, she covered one season of high school football and the PGA Farmers Insurance Open. On the other hand, while in Idaho, she had spent about four years working her way up from a multimedia journalist to a morning weather anchor while working for Idaho News 6.
While there, she was also privileged to win several awards for her work as a journalist. Among her favorite stories include assisting lawmakers in reforming animal cruelty laws across the state, and helping free an Idaho man who was wrongfully imprisoned overseas.
In the past two years, she has embraced her love for meteorology and turned to it full-time. She states that with snow, shine, or rain, she helped Idahoan plan out their days accordingly and made sure they knew what to expect(and pack) across the valleys and mountains.
Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, Nika and Bandit around Western Washington. She is a huge Mariners, Kraken, UDub, and Seahawks fan. One can catch her forecasts every Saturday from 5- 11 PM and Sunday’s 5-midnight.
