Gayle King is an American three-time Emmy award-winning host, author, and anchor working for CBS News. She joined the network in 2011.

She also conducted the final interviews with Representative Cicely Tyson and John Lewis before their passing.

She has reported the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. King also -anchored CBS News’ special coverage of several breaking news stories including the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the Supreme Court’s landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage, the San Bernardino shootings, and the Paris terrorist attacks.

Previously, she hosted a live, weekday television interview program “The Gayle King Show,” on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. She worked for CBS affiliate WFSB-TV in Hartford, Connecticut as a television news anchor for 18 years. During that time, she hosted her own syndicated daytime program. Prior to working for WFSB, she worked at WTOP-TV in Washington, D.C., WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, and WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Missouri.
