George Faust Biography

George Faust is an American sports anchor working for KLFY as a sports director and he can be seen broadcasting sports news on weekdays evenings at 6 pm and 10 pm. He joined KLFY in July 2003, as a weekend sports anchor till June 2005, when he was promoted to sports director. 

George attended Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Los Angelos where he earned a diploma. Later on, he joined The University of Mississippi where he earned a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in Southern Studies. Since his senior year at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Los Angelos, he has been serving as a journalist by interning at WWL-TV and WWL870AM in New Orleans. Prior to joining KLFY-TV, he worked at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Los Angelos where he served as a sports anchor.

He has also worked at WMDN-TV in Meridian, Mississippi, and at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi. Faust also anchors 1st and Ten, which is an award-winning High School Football Show and  Louisiana Open Extra which is a special on the Tour event in Broussard. With his help, the KLFY News 10 Sports was able to create the first ever High School Basketball Show in Louisiana known as Full Court Press. Over the years, he has held positions such as being a news reporter/ anchor and a sports anchor/ reporter.

By far, the thrill of his career, so far, is being able to cover the 2009-2010 New Orleans Saints along the journey to the franchise’s first Super Bowl Championship. “Being in Miami for the Saints first Super Bowl win is a life-long dream for me,” remembers George. George’s chance to conduct a one-on-one interview with Golf Legend Jack Nicklaus ranks up there, also. Those are just a few of the highlights during his tenure in sports.As for news, George’s most intriguing news interview came when he spoke with James Meredith, the first black student at Ole Miss. But, perhaps the biggest story was the coverage of Hurricane Katrina. George won a Communicator Award for his work on the show, “Ole Miss Football” with David Cutcliffe, and has won numerous A.P. awards during his career. Once he takes off the mic, it’s off to the tee box, so don’t be surprised if you see him chasing those birdies on the golf course.George is a die-hard New Orleans Saints and Pelicans fan. His favorite baseball team is the Chicago Cubs. When he’s not watching sports, he looks forward to spending time with his wife, Cassidy, and their 4 children Parker, Savannah, Harrison and Meredith!

In 1993, he graduated with a diploma from Archbishop Rummel High School. He then joined the University of Mississippi where he earned a Bachelor of arts in broadcast journalsim in sourthern studies in 1997.
