Darla Montgomery is an American anchor working for KLFY as the weekday at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm anchor. She has been working in Acadiana since 1992, as an anchor and reporter. 

Opelousas, Louisiana is her native home and she joined the University of Southwest Louisiana in 1980, where she earned a major in broadcast communication in 1985. She has been seen on the air in Acadiana since 1992 while serving as an anchor and reporter. She has been awarded the Associated Press award for spot news, feature reporting, and public affairs. In addition, her public affairs award was presented to her for her half-hour documentary that chronicled the life of an Acadiana priest and his mission in Haiti. Montgomery has also spent over a week in the impoverished country and she stated that the experience changed her life. Her documentary was aired both locally and statewide, on Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Furthermore, she was also featured in an LPB documentary on South Louisiana’s folk medicine and the tradition of “traiteurs,” or healers, and the documentary still air’s on LPB to date.

Over the years, she has covered many stories including of local and state elections. She has also covered a delegation to Canada and tourism promotion traveling with Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco. Darla has had the opportunity to interview many political figures in the local and national spotlight such as political mastermind, James Carville and former Vice President Al Gore. During the campaign seasons, she has covered presidential visits to Acadiana and traveled to Africa to cover local mission efforts to unite with its sister city in Senegal. During her spare time, she enjoys preparing Creole cuisine at her home in Lafayette, writing short stories and poetry, and spending time with her family.
