Gil McClanahan is an American Anchor and Reporter working for WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia as a General Assignment Reporter. He joined the station in March 2015 after working for WVVA-TV as a News Anchor.

McClanahan completed his high school level at Cross Lanes Christian School in 1983. He later joined Cedarville University in 1985 to pursue Business Management and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting in 1988.

His second tenure with Eyewitness News started in March of 2015 following his coverage of the incidents in Cabell County, Eastern Kentucky, and Southeast Ohio. Although McClanahan had some ailments in the past few months, he continues to provide up-to-date news in Cabell and Putnam counties. His first working engagement with WCHS-TV was between July 2005 and November 2006 during which he landed the position of News Reporter.
Before working with WCHS-TV, McClanahan was employed at WVVA-TV as a News Anchor. He became a part of the WVVA News Team in February 2013 and served the WVVA news station up to January 2014. He provided the news broadcasts at 6 PM with Paul and substituted the official host of the “In Focus” public affairs show. Before this, he was a reporter for WOW-TV from November 2006 to Sept 2012.
From February 2002 to July 2004, McClanahan held the position of the main anchor-reporter at the Parkersburg, West Virginia-based WTAP-TV. His job was to anchor, and at the same time produce the 6 o’clock and 11 o’clock news bulletins. Also, from August 2000 to January 2002, he was a morning and noon co-anchor, reporting the “Trash or Treasure” franchise at KIDK-TV, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Additionally, he worked as a General Assignment Reporter for WCTI-TV in New Bern, North Carolina, from November 1997 to August 2000. Furthermore, McClanahan is a fan of baseball. He is partial to country western, and southern gospel and listens to music that can only be described as corny and watches dumb comedies and James Bond.
