Heidi Voight Biography
Heidi Voight is an American journalist who serves as a morning news anchor at WVIT (NBC Connecticut) in New Britain, Connecticut, United States. Voight appears on weekday mornings from 4:30 to 7 a.m. anchoring NBC Connecticut Today alongside co-anchor Ted Koppy and First Alert Meteorologist Bob Maxon.
Voight uses her journalism platform to advance numerous charitable causes and uncover compelling human interest stories. In 2016, Heidi was named one of Connecticut Magazine’s “40 Under 40”. She was also inducted into the Gertrude O. Lewis Humanitarian Society, the highest honor bestowed by the Connecticut Humane Society the same year.
She has made coverage a series profiling fallen law enforcement officers and also an investigation into state and federal funding of Connecticut’s highway service patrol fleet. As a result, she was awarded six awards from the CT Society of Professional Journalists in 2016.

From June 2000 to May 2006, Voight worked as a full-time server in a busy, upscale French restaurant while attending college full-time at Union League Cafe in New Haven, CT. She appeared as Miss Connecticut in 2006. Voight was a flight attendant for Eos Airlines from 2007 to 2008.
From 2008 to 2009, she was a Policy aide for the Speaker of the Connecticut General Assembly then James Amann. She managed Task Force on Domestic Violence in Immigrant Communities and assisted with media relations. Heidi also worked closely with Bill Cosby for Task Force on Fatherhood. She later served as General Manager for Bar Bouchee in Madison, Connecticut from June 2010 until March 2011.
Voight joined WWLP 22News (NBC) in Springfield, Massachusetts Area in March 2011 as a multi-media journalist. She anchored and produced the 6 pm & 11 pm weekend news there. She also pitched story leads and ideas and served as a live reporter on the 5, 6 & 11 pm weeknight news. While there, she attended the Magid Institute for News Anchors in Marion, Iowa (December 2011). Heidi left the station in September 2012.
Voight joined NBCUniversal in Hartford, Connecticut, United States in July 2014. She started as a freelance reporter in West Hartford, CT until September of the same year. She then served as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Heidi reported the morning traffic and was a features reporter for NBC Connecticut. She served as host of the weekly Clear The Shelters segment and weekend Out & About community event spots.
