Ryan Hanrahan is an American meteorologist who serves as the first alert meteorologist on WVIT (NBC CT) in West Hartford, CT. He appears on weekdays during the 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts.
He grew interested in weather from an early age, intensified by witnessing the Hamden tornado of 1989, hurricanes Gloria and Bob of 1993, and the blizzards of 1996. In his career in Connecticut, he covered its most significant storms including the October snowstorm, Tropical Storm Irene, and Hurricane Sandy. Hanrahan also covered the Blizzard of 2013 and the May 2018 tornado outbreak across the state.
