Hetty Chang Biography
Hetty Chang is an American reporter working with NBC4 at KNBC reporting the weekday news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts. She joined the station in 2013 and is an Emmy Award-winning reporter.

Chang came back to NBC4 after working as a digital media fellowship at the station through a pilot program between NBC4 and the Asian American Journalists Association in 2011. Under the fellowship, she worked closely with the station’s digital media team and gathered valuable experience across many media platforms. She previously reported for the NBC stations in Reno and Las Vegas, and LA Cityview Channel 35. Chang is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and has covered numerous memorable stories that have gained national attention. Most recently, she covered live The 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, providing around-the-clock reports for more than 3 weeks in the heart of the Olympic Village. She has also had memorable interviews with various U.S. athletes such as figure skaters Nathan Chen, Mirai Nagasu, and Adam Rippon and also 3-time Olympic champion snowboarder Shaun White.
She also provided in-depth coverage from Las Vegas of the worst mass shooting in modern history, the murder manhunt for ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner. Chang has been recognized for her coverage of the OJ Simpson robbery case and her award-winning coverage of Nevada’s hard-hit economy. She also conducted one of Barack Obama’s last interviews before he won the 2008 presidential election.
When away from work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, including eating a good meal. She is fluent in Mandarin and continues to improve her Spanish on the job. Chang is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, a non-profit organization that encourages professionals to consider careers in journalism and news management.
