James Torrez is an American Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working for KTVU-TV serving as a reporter and MMJ. Previously, he worked for WTVC in Chattanooga Tennessee as a fill-in anchor and reporter.

After graduating from high school, James joined Florida University in 2012 where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications in 2016. While in college, he worked as a reporter and was awarded a professional Florida Associated Press award for his work.

Torrez serves as a reporter and MMJ at KTVU-TV, the Fox 2 affiliate in Oakland, California. While there at KTVU, he has covered various news such as mass shootings in San Jose, the COVID-19 pandemic, and several sports events like the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers. James joined the station in January 2021, after working for WTVC in Chattanooga Tennessee as a fill-in anchor and reporter. For his excellent work at the station, he was honored by the Tennessee Associated Press as the Best TV News Reporter in 2017.
Earlier, Torrez spent two years and five months working multimedia journalist at WPEC in West Palm Beach. During his tenure there, he covered multiple news such as the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian striking the Bahamas which won him an Emmy nomination. He also served as an on-air talent and promotions assistant at Kiss 105.3 from October 2015 to May 2016.
James began his professional career as an anchor, producer, and reporter at WUFT-FM from May 2014 to May 2016. Previously, he worked for Entercom Gainesville 985KTK /973 where he served as a producer and board op from August 2013 to June 2015. His duties at the station included gathering news, creating segments, and editing videos.
