Jana Shortal is an American five-time Regional Emmy Award-winning Co-anchor/Reporter, working for KARE 11 serving as the host and reporter of the Breaking The News, weeknights at 6:30. She has been working for the station since joining in December 2003.

Shortal serves as the host and reporter of the Breaking The News, weeknights at 6:30. On joining the station, she started off by serving as a general assignment reporter for a couple of years. She previously worked for WDAF-TV where she served as a reporter from October 2000 – October 2003. She joined the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1995 and attained her Bachelor’s in Journalism in 1999.
Shortal has also managed to win several awards ever since she started her journalism career. She has been awarded five Emmy Awards and a ton of other honors. Shortal is one of the members of the National Association of LGBTQ Journalists. She is also very active when it comes to her social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter as well as Instagram.
During her leisure, she enjoys running, and she has competed in road races for over ten years. She also loves watching her favorite movie, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, during her free time.
