Jason Boyer Biography
Jason Boyer is an American meteorologist working for WLOS as the chief meteorologist. He joined the station in October 2009 and has served the station for over a decade. Previously, he worked as a morning meteorologist for KWGN Denver, Colorado.
Jason Boyer Education
Boyer joined Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1994 when he finished his high school education. In 1996, he graduated with his Electrical Engineering degree. He then furthered his education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Atmospheric Science in 1998.

Boyer works for WLOS as the chief meteorologist. In this role, he creates and delivers weekday weather broadcasts for News13 at 5, 5:30, 6 & 11 p.m., along with News13 on my40 at 6:30 & 10 p.m. This is his not first time working for the station as he had served as a weekend meteorologist from 2002 to 2003. The Certified Broadcast Meteorologist has won two Emmy awards and two Emmy nominations.
After graduating college, Boyer secured his first job at WJHL in Johnson City. Ever since, he has worked in the broadcasting industry for over 2 decades, most of which have been spent in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina.
Since he was young, Boyer has been passionate about the weather. One of his favorite memories while growing up is that of a big storm that hit the Midwest when he was only 4 years old, remembering drifts that were nearly as tall as him. Even though his favorite weather is partly cloudy and 70s, he also enjoys the challenge that comes with forecasting winter weather.
Aside from forecasting the weather, he also loves teaching others the science of weather. In this way, he has visited hundreds of schools around the mountains and continues to visit more each school year. He is very active in the community and volunteers his time with firms like the American Red Cross, The ARC of Buncombe County & Buncombe County Schools.

During his free time, he hikes one of the numerous trails in the mountains with his two dogs or enjoys a round of golf on one of the numerous local courses. He is also an adept guitar and drum player. He and his family enjoy traveling and have been to Canada, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, and Spain.
