Jay Scotland is a Canadian meteorologist working for CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) News serving with Compass on P.E.I. He joined the station in August 2017 as a meteorologist.

Scotland is a meteorologist for CBC PEI’s Compass which is the number one suppertime news show on the Island. He took his love for all things weather to PEI. Upon college graduation from Algonquin College in Ottawa, he began his career journey. He started working in Kingston as a radio announcer. After some time, he got an opportunity to work in TV weather unexpectedly. Scotland began by working behind the mic then he was asked to cover a few shifts in front of the camera at Kingston’s local CBC affiliate CKWS TV.
Since his first held the “weather clicker,” he was hooked. From there, he moved to Peterborough to work for CHEX Television as a full-time weather specialist. He later enrolled in Mississippi State University’s renowned Operational Meteorology program. During his working time there, he covered a few shifts on CBC News Network presenting the national forecast. After completing his meteorology studies, he joined the network’s national morning show full-time. He is happy to be part of the incredible CBC PEI team and to forecast locally for the Island.
Scotland holds the coveted “Weathercaster Endorsement” from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS). During his leisure time, he likes chasing after his very active daughter, trying desperately to watch an entire movie before falling asleep on the sofa or hitting the mats at his local martial arts school.
